One of the program highlights of Epilepsy Awareness Month is the Emory Epilepsy Symposium. This year’s program will take place on Saturday, November 9 from 8:30 am- 2:30 pm at the Loudermilk Conference Center, 40 Courtland Street in downtown Atlanta.
The featured speakers for this year’s event come from the medical staff of the Emory Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and will feature such topics as epilepsy diagnosis and treatment, medications, surgical procedures for epilepsy and the psychological aspects of seizure disorders. The program will close with interactive roundtables where participants can choose from a variety of topics and share with others how they cope with issues related to epilepsy.
The patient and family cost for the symposium is $25 per person for the general public, with a $40 maximum cost per family of 4. Some scholarships will be available. Continuing education credits will be available for physicians, nurses and EEG techs. The professional fee is $100 per person, which includes the CME’s .
