Often times we think that one individual can't really make a difference. But one can, because it takes each individual to make up a group to help form public opinion, to resolve issues, to create a successful environment. And your one voice just might be the one that makes that difference.
Many in the US appear to have become complacent, but my experience is that you in the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia community are anything but complacent. I've seen your response first hand when it comes to your generosity at our events such as the Taste of Love Gala and the Magnolia Run. I've seen it in your response to appeals for the medication fund and camp programs. And I've seen it when we pull together to make our voice heard at the state capitol and in Washington, DC. The mission statement of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia states that as an organization we "will ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; and will prevent, control and cure epilepsy through services, education, advocacy and research." No one person can do it all, but together we can accomplish much! |
I look forward to working with each of you as our organization grows. I urge you to make a commitment to be active and involved members of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia in the way that best fits you - whether that is with your time, your talent or your treasure. In that way we will be able to attain our goal of improving the lives of all Georgians touched by epilepsy.
