2012 Epilepsy Camp Schedule Released

The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia is pleased to announce its' 2012 summer camp schedule for children and adults with epilepsy. All camps will take place at Camp Twin Lakes' facility within Ft. Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, Georgia.

Camp Carpe Diem
July 21-27

Camp Carpe Diem is a partnership between Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Camp Twin Lakes and the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia. This camp is designed for children with epilepsy between the ages of 8-16 who have good seizure control with their medications. Carpe Diem will offer the traditional camp activities with the safety net of full time medical staff, low counselor to camper ratio and counselors trained in seizure recognition/first aid. On-line registration for camp is now available.

Camp Big Heart
Session I : June 16-22
Session II : June 23-29

Camp Big Heart holds two sessions each summer with Session I serving children ages 7-25, and Session II serving adults over the age 26. To qualify for Camp Big Heart you must have a diagnosis of a developmental disability in addition to epilepsy. This camp is made possible by the Civitan Clubs of Georgia, Camp Twin Lakes and the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia. Due to the more complex disorders handled at this camp, there is a very low camper to counselor ratio and additional medical staff is on site. On line registration for this camp will be available in early February 2012.

The Epilepsy Foundation underwrites camp scholarships for those unable to pay the camp fee through grants to both Camp Carpe Diem and Camp Big Heart. If you have any questions concerning our summer camp program, please feel free to contact Lloyd Brown at lloyd@epilepsyga.org.
