Smart911 Now Available in the Metro Atlanta Area

When a person has a seizure emergency, it is important that EMT's and other first responders have quick access to vital health information so they can handle the situation properly. Often a person with epilepsy has lost consciousness and is unable to share this information.

A wonderful new enhancement Smart911, is now available to citizens living in the cities of Atlanta, Alpharetta, Chamblee, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek and Dunwoody. This free service allows a person with a disability/special need to enter important medical important information concerning their condition into the Smart911 database. If a call is placed to 911 from the phone at that person's location, it will automatically bring up their specific epilepsy/other medical condition information on the 911 dispatcher's screen. This information can then be relayed to the first responders on the scene.

It's easy to enroll in the Smart 911 system. You simply go to www.Smart911.com and fill out a medical profile sheet which will then be linked to your phone number. Your information is stored in a secure database, and it can easily be updated when there is a change in your medications or medical condition.

Smart911 can greatly speed up the emergency response process, and provide the EMT's with important medical information that a caregiver, friend or babysitter making the 911 call may not know.
