2008 Symposium The Epilepsy Foundation is a vigorous advocate for people with epilepsy, yet the individual with epilepsy often times is the most effective advocate, as they have a personal story only they can tell. Realizing this, the 13th Annual Epilepsy Symposium was designed to give potential advocates the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to get their message across to elected officials, school personnel, employers and the legal system. In order to lead by example, an excellent team of presenters was recruited , with a majority of the speakers either having epilepsy themselves, a family member with seizures, or a professional relationship that brings them into frequent contact with persons who have seizures. These workshops were well received by the nearly 100 attendees at this year’s conference. A new addition to the Symposium this year was the addition of “town hall” discussions on various epilepsy-related topics. We want to thank the following organizations for making the 2008 Epilepsy Symposium possible:
We especially want to thank “Barack”, “John” and “Hillary” for taking time out of their busy campaign schedules to drop by and show their support of the epilepsy cause. |
